Thursday -
Mum treated me to a lovely day/night out in Manchester to celebrate my graduation - late but worth the wait.
1st stop - Manchester Art Gallery - The Kylie Minogue exhibiton. Verdict = amaaahahahazing. I loved it. It made me want to be her, just to wear all those fabulous clothes. To see them all that close up was (beg my pardon here please) a little bit emotional! Really though. I'm silly, but yes, just honest!
2nd stop - Northern Quarter. I went in my two favourite vintage shops. There is one that I don't know the name of but it's on Oldham Street and charecterised by the loveliest staff in the whole of Manchester. I bought a red silk knee length dress for gigs and other such glitzy dos, a turquoise retro sweatshirt for when it's not too cold but to cold for sleeveless things, and some cool earrings because I am forever losing all mine. The other shop is called Rags to Bitches and the girl in there looks cool but she's quiet in a boring way rather than an interesting way. I dug out a purple vintage Jaques Vert handbag and mum bought it for me as part of my birthday present - I still have bits of it left over from May!
I love that satisfied feeling of having shopping bags full of new niceness.
3rd stop - Sushi bar near Canal Street. We have been meaning to go for months, maybe even years. It was closed.
4th stop - Kro2 We sat outside and drank wine and mum ate chicken & avacado salad followed by schnitzel and I had olives and grilled vegetable kebabs. It felt like summer.
5th stop - The Cornerhouse to see Sherrybaby. I love Maggie Gyllenhall so I had to see it and it was worth it. Not as good as Secretary but good enough to make me think, ooh, that was good.
With a 1st in Film & TV I should probably provide a better review than that, but I'm not working now.
6th and final stop - Cloud 23 at The Hilton for cocktails. Wowww it's amazing! Not as expensive as I thought it might be and definitely worth it for the views and the quality of drinkages available. I also thought it would be full of posers, but after telling mum this she said, "Ilona, there are no posers in Manchester." A nice thought, but untrue. I had a Sally Cinnamon and it was sexilicious indeed. From up there you can see the whole of Manchester in all it's Northern glory. From late afternoon, through the sunset and then all lit up in the night sky. From the twinkling big wheel andbeyond into Ancoats and Bolton, to the Pennines and the Peak District. Wonderful.
Friday -
I spent Friday night and today back in Aberystwyth. I had to see Jamie because a) I miss him like hell when we're not together and b) It was our 10 month anniversary. I know it's not much on the grand scheme of things, but it's enough to me so nerr!
Last night we snuggled and watched Blackadder with Ian, then had a lovely rest of night and loooooong lie in - delectable!
Today we walked into town and through the busy crowded streets to Blue Creek for lunch. Yum yum!
There was a scary rock concert outside the Castle. I don't know where they got the bands from but they hurt my ears so we joined in the free childrens activities!! Woo for hulahooping and diablos and juggly things!
Twas lovely.

I've been working at the Wellspring Centre - a place for homeless to get shelter/food/showers/advice etc for a while now.
Tonight there were the regulars... and more.
A kid who looked no more than 15, sleeping rough.
A guy about 30 with hives all over his neck and shoulders - AIDS.
My favourite old man there, Eric, had a heart attack this week. He's ok. I told him to take it easy and he told me to - apparantly I had been rushing around so much it made him dizzy.
It's a heartwarming place, but so, so sad.
Number 1 - The Coincidence
After coming home from University, I intended to go into my old college to see Anthony (creative writing) to speak to him about me possibly writing a children's novel - I didn't see that one coming - and also my old performing arts teachers, just for a chinwag.
By the time I got round to thinking about going in, term had ended and everyone had gone home or on holiday or wherever people go.
This week I bumped into Anthony in the Northern Quarter when I was bombing around during my lunch hour. He told me he was putting on a play, so today I took mum to the Midland Hotel to see the said play, Harlequin.
There, I bumped into Jason, my old performing arts teacher and had a good old chinwag.
I don't believe in fate or any of that rubbish - but what a nice coincidence.
Number 2 - The Dilemma
Jamie's dad asked him if we would both like to go to Sardinia for ten days from the 31st August. Sounds wonderful and I will have finished work and not yet begun my Masters. The problem is, my mum's birthday is on September 6th and I bought Regina Spektor tickets for us both on the 4th. I missed her birthday last year because I was travelling and felt awful. But, but...10 days in Sardinia with Jamie!
What to do? What the hell to do?
Mum knows, she knows about both...and said she could get someone else to go to Regina. But I love mum and I love Regina and I love Jamie and I'm sure I'll love Sardinia!
Does sleeping on things such as these make the answers any clearer?
Now I have Meatloaf in my head and he says he'll give me an answer in the morning. I shall wait until the morning.
But any suggestions would be kindly appreciated.
xx
